Dynamic Visual Acuity (DVA) is an investigation for detection of peripheral vestibulopathy and early detection of vestibulotoxicity. It assesses the VOR (vestibulocular reflex) which is responsible for the subject to maintain the image on the fovea during head movement. When the VOR system is impaired, visual acuity degrades substantially during head movement as the subject is not able to maintain the image on the retina, resulting in retinal slip and blurring of vision with a feeling of instability.
Electronystagmography (ENG) is also available at NeuroEquilibrium™ Diagnostic Systems though we recommend Videonystagmography (VNG), which is a far more advanced test. As in VNG, this investigation evaluates the vestibulo ocular reflex (VOR), which helps in maintenance of balance. It helps to evaluate peripheral and central vestibular functions: ENG measures the charge in corneoretinal potential during various vestibular and oculomotor tests.
Stabilometry is an objective and functional evaluation of the postural control system in its steady-state behaviour. It is also a very good evaluation tool to measure the outcome of vestibular rehabilitation.
The VHIT enables to test all 6 semi-circular canals at high frequency as well as the saccades strategies (overt and covert). VOR Suppression (VORS) tests identify the presence or absence of saccadic eye movement in order to simultaneously test for the co-existence of vestibular and cerebellar pathology and thus diagnose vestibulo-cerebellar disorders.
