Disequilibrium is caused by the disturbance in the harmonious functioning of the balance system of the human body, which is maintained by inputs from the eyes, inner ears (vestibular) and the proprioceptive system. It is a complex network with many components, including the :
These three systems send signals to the brain for proper coordination and maintenance of balance. A neurotological evaluation of vertigo and balance disorder patients covers an assessment of their functioning and coordination with our suite of breakthrough and diagnostic equipment.
Any disturbance in the harmonious functioning of these systems is diagnosed by our specialized neurotological team at the advanced vertigo and balance clinics, which evaluates each part of the vestibular system. Once its functional status has been assessed and affected areas identified, the management protocol is decided upon.
Subjective Visual Vertical (SVV) is the test for the otolith system (the utricle and saccule) which is responsible for perception of verticality, and gravity. It is an important test for chronic unsteady patients.
Craniocorpography (CCG) evaluates the vestibulospinal reflex, which is responsible for maintenance of balance during gait testing. This test helps to determine vestibular rehabilitation strategy as well.
Caloric test has been the gold standard in vestibular testing for over 100 years. NeuroEquilibrium Caloric Irrigators are used in combination with the VNG machine to conduct caloric tests on patients with dizziness or balance disorders.
The Videonystagmography (VNG) investigation evaluates the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR), which is an important part of the vestibular system to maintain balance. It also evaluates the oculomotor system, responsible for gaze stabilization and fixation.Using VNG, the doctor can evaluate and distinguish between peripheral and central vestibular disorders decide the side affected and, determine the position of the otolith within the semicircular canals in BPPV.
Dynamic Visual Acuity (DVA) is an investigation for detection of peripheral vestibulopathy and early detection of vestibulotoxicity. It assesses the VOR (vestibulocular reflex) which is responsible for the subject to maintain the image on the fovea during head movement. When the VOR system is impaired, visual acuity degrades substantially during head movement as the subject is not able to maintain the image on the retina, resulting in retinal slip and blurring of vision with a feeling of instability.
Electronystagmography (ENG) is also available at NeuroEquilibrium™ Diagnostic Systems though we recommend Videonystagmography (VNG), which is a far more advanced test. As in VNG, this investigation evaluates the vestibulo ocular reflex (VOR), which helps in maintenance of balance. It also evaluates the oculomotor system, which is responsible for gaze stabilization and fixation. It helps to evaluate peripheral and central vestibular functions: ENG measures the charge in corneoretinal potential during various vestibular and oculomotor tests.
Stabilometry is an objective and functional evaluation of the postural control system in its steady-state behaviour. It is also a very good evaluation tool to measure the outcome of vestibular rehabilitation.
The VHIT enables to test all 6 semi-circular canals at high frequency as well as the saccades strategies (overt and covert). VOR Suppression (VORS) tests identify the presence or absence of saccadic eye movement in order to simultaneously test for the co-existence of vestibular and cerebellar pathology and thus diagnose vestibulo-cerebellar disorders.

I’m Dr. mahaveer mehta from dubai. I unfortunately suffered from a severe attack of vertigo. It was extremely scary and uncomfortable. I was depressed with sleepless nights affecting work and routine. After taking an opinion from cardiologist in USA + top neurologist in India to find a cause. They suggested me various tests but I had heard about vertigo + ear clinic headed by Dr. Anita Bhandari. So I travelled to jaipur and met her. She did an evaluation and diagnosed and treatment the problem on the same day. To my surprise, I started feeling better from the same night. Next day I was 100% cured. Thank you so much for finding the cause and treatment me so quickly. I recommend this clinic eyes closed. Purpose of writing this to help people who suffer for vertigo should reach out to this place.
