VNG
Assesses how well the inner ear balance system and its brain connections are working to maintain stability.
SVV
Measures the perception of your balance control.
DVA
Measures how well the balance system maintains stability during head movement in daily activities.
Caloric Test
Tests each inner ear separately to detect weakness or asymmetry in the balance system.
Step 2 — Identification
What's causing your vertigo?
Your vertigo and spinning sensation could be linked to over 40 different conditions affecting the ear or brain. Some of these include:
BPPV
In many patients, the spinning starts suddenly without any apparent cause. This is called Primary BPPV.
…
However, some conditions can increase the risk of BPPV like:
• Head injury
• Prolonged bed rest
• Ear infections
• After surgery
• Migraine
The incidence of BPPV increases with advancing age. A deficiency of Vitamin D also increases the risk of getting BPPV.

Meniere's Disease
Meniere’s disease is a chronic vestibular disorder caused by fluctuating pressure of inner ear fluid.
It presents with recurrent episodes of spinning with fluctuating hearing loss in one ear
…
It is a slowly progressive disease which should be treated at the earliest to prevent long-term complications.
Increased fluid pressure causes the inner ear to expand like a balloon which leads to recurrent episodes of vertigo,
hearing loss, ringing sound in the ear (tinnitus).
Meniere’s disease can develop at any age, but it is more likely to occur in people of the age of 30–60 years.

Maneuver
Specialized repositioning maneuvers like the Epley and Semont techniques to treat BPPV by guiding displaced calcium crystals back to their correct position in the inner ear.
Vestibular Rehabilitation
Patients with vertigo and dizziness can greatly benefit from video call sessions with trained physiotherapists. The comprehensive program includes interactive exercises, home videos, and continuous monitoring, with two sessions per week for five weeks.
Counselling
Counselling is recommended for dizziness caused by various diseases, such as Vestibular migraine, tinnitus, PPPD, and many others. We use customized counseling techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Exposure therapy, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy.

What causes Vertigo?
Vertigo problem can be caused by many disorders of the balance system. Most commonly, they are due to inner ear problems or the brain. The common causes of vertigo are disorders like Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), Meniere s disease, Vestibular migraine, Labyrinthitis, Vestibular neuritis, labyrinthine concussion, stroke, etc. Less commonly systemic disorders like orthostatic hypotension, sensory ataxia due to diabetes or nutritional deficiencies, drug-induced dizziness etc.could lead to dizziness.
What is BPPV?
BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) is one of the most common causes of vertigo. In this condition, the patient complains of spinning or dizziness on getting up from bed or turning the head to certain positions. BPPV is caused by displaced calcium carbonate crystals in the inner ear. It is treated by identifying the position of the displaced crystals and repositioning them to the correct position with specific repositioning maneuvers like the Epley s maneuver, Roll maneuver, etc.
What is VNG?
VNG or Video-nystagmography is diagnostic test to evaluate dizzy patients with high-speed infra-red cameras to record eye movements during various oculomotor and vestibular tests. The tests allow the doctor to check the functioning of different parts of the balance system and their connections in the brain.
